The WOCNCB established the Professional Growth Program (PGP) as an alternative to taking an exam for recertification.
PGP recognizes the activities that go beyond routine practice or that represent the pathway you took from novice to expert. You simply demonstrate your knowledge of wound, ostomy, continence or foot care nursing by tracking and recording evidence of your continual learning and professional growth. Recertification is awarded based on accumulating PGP points for activities related to your professional and specialty practice.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the WOCNCB Professional Growth Program, an applicant must fulfill the following requirements.
- Be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse. (Current RN licensure will be verified by the WOCNCB.) Please check with your state board of nursing to be sure your most current licensure is listed on their website.
- Be currently certified by WOCNCB in the specialties for which you apply for recertification. (Current certification will be verified by the WOCNCB.)
It is not permissible to recertify through the Professional Growth Program if you first fail the examinations for that recertification cycle.
