Does a wound program (IE CWCP certification) through PESI count towards wound CEs since accredited by ANCC??

We accept all providers of CE when the pertain specifically to the specialty. There is only a restriction on using "Professional" topics -- for recertification by PGP we list providers where those Professional Practice subject matter CE may come from. If you are asking about applying for certification by Exam using the Experiential Pathway -- then all CE must pertain to the specialty and may come from any provider.
Question:
Hello. I am WTA-C (10/2024). I am desiring to become a member as an Emerging Professional under WOCN. Are the sessions offered applied to recertification, though no WTA-C specific sessions are offered for the PGP renewal?

For recertifying via the PGP portfolio, if you earn CE credits from a course, and if those CE are specifically related to Wound care, they may be used. You may need to contact the WOCN Society directly to ask about their coursework -- we are separate organizations. Their email is: info@wocn.org and their website is: www.wocn.org
Question:
I renewed my CWOCN a little early this year and my eligibilty window for my next recertification began at the end of June. I attended some of the WOCNext conference in person and watched many of the sessions since they were released online.The CE certificate lists the days (5/31-6/2) each session was live and the completion date is listed for today (8/12) when I completed all the evals. Can I use all the of the CE throughout my portfolio? Thank you.

You may use CE credits earned after the date of your previous PGP approval date. So, for example, your approval date this year was on 3/14, you may use CE's earned 3/15 and after even though the PGP system indicates your next portfolio deadline says it is due 6/30 for a credentials expiration that is 8/31 and the "points accrual" will show from 6/30 to 6/30. Please refer to page 5 of the handbook on Point Accumulation.
Question:
I attended the "Fifth Annual Medical, Interventional & Surgical IBD Symposium" on 7/24/2026 virtually. I have the certificate that award 6.0 hours. The website for the conference states, "Joint Accreditation Statement: In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by Columbia University Department of Surgery and Amedco LLC. Amedco LLC is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
1) Since they mention ANCC, are these approved points for PGP?
2) If so, would they be applicable in both Continence or Ostomy?

If the content/subject matter of the symposium is related to Wound, it can be used in a wound portfolio. Any course CE that pertain specific to the specialty can come from any provider (such as this symposium). Only when the CE pertains to "Professional Practice" topics (non-clinical) -- is when they must come from the providers specified and listed in the PGP Handbook. The providers listed in the handbook must be the organization that provided the education. In other words, when we say ANCC -- the course must have been taught by them. The ANCC is also an "approver" of accrediting other course providers to award CE to that provider. What this means is that the ANCC has reviewed course content such as the Surgical IBD Symposium to allow CE to be awarded to their attendees. We hope this clarifies.

hi, there, I was helping out our hospital attorney and discuss my care of a patient with wound and incontinence issue. Could I qualify for PGP points? It was a discussion in depth, and the attorney was seeking advice on pathophiological changes. thank you very much!

There are points in Category 3, for being an "Expert legal case reviewer." This would be if the activity you are describing relates to a legal case in review, usually when a lawyer has you serving on a court case as the WOC Nurse expert.
Question:
I completed an Advanced Wound Debridement course 11/12/2022 in Raleigh NC. I have the certificate that states "Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number CEP 14269 for 6.6 CUE" Am I able to include this for my PCP under wound?

Yes, you are. This falls underneath the definition listed on page 9 of the handbook.
Attendance at continuing education programs or CE/CNE/CMEs with an approval by an accrediting organization (for example, the American
Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or a state board of nursing).
Question:
If I am wanting to use precepting hours for either RN students or new hire's at my facility to earn points under the teaching section, is there anything other than the tracking form I would need for an audit? I have printed the non WOCN student tracking form and am having the students/new hire's sign and date that but wasn't sure if more was needed as the handbook does not really specify. Thanks!

Thank you for your question. Please refer to page 9 of the PGP handbook. There is an example in Appendix A. You will need to add each individual session and the hours under the conference title.

Is there a way to know if my CME/CE s would be accepted prior to the application process to avoid a an application withdrawal?

There is not a pre-approval process for CE, so you would include them on an application for review. As long as the CE content pertains to the specialty, they are generally acceptable. You may want to look at the "Exam Content Outline" where topics are listed as a guideline. This is on the website under "Certification / Exam Preparation". If your application is lacking, you will be able to add new CE for consideration and resubmit the application.
Question:
I finished my courses for wound, ostomy, and continence earlier this year. I have already registered to take all 3 exams. I did not pass the first one. My question is, is there a time frame to taking the remaining 2 exams? Do I have to take them within a certain time frame? If so, what is that time frame?

Your exam application provides you with 6 months testing timeframe. Information on exams are found in the exam handbook, if you would like to reference all the policies.
